Like any other test, the California QME examination has specific requirements about which items you need to bring with you. Keep reading to learn what are the things you should (and shouldn’t) bring to a QME Examination.
What Is a QME Examination?
Any physician who wants to become a Qualified Medical Evaluator in California must go through a process that includes passing a certification exam.
The test questions can be divided into four broad categories relating to the four major responsibility areas of QMEs:
- I. Clinical Assessment/Evaluation and Medical Treatment
- II. Disability Issues/QIW/Vouchers/P&S
- III. Causation and Apportionment
- IV. Basic Laws and Regulations and Report Writing Elements
There are three format categories
- Direct question
- Internal blank format
- Incomplete sentence
What To Bring to a QME Examination
It is worth noting that QME Examinations are administered by CPS HR Consulting’s partner, Pearson VUE. Candidates can take the exam at one of Pearson VUE’s test centers.
Below is a list of the items and documents applicants are required to bring to the test center:
- Two forms of original (no photocopies), valid (unexpired) IDs; one as a primary ID (government issued with name, photo, and signature) and the second one as a secondary ID
- Note that the first and last name that you used to register for the QME examination must match exactly the first and last name on the ID that is presented on test day.
- If you do not have a primary ID issued from the country you are testing in, an International Travel Passport from your country of citizenship is required, along with a secondary ID
- Important: No personal items are allowed into the testing room (this includes bags, books not authorized by the sponsor, notes, phones, pagers, watches, and wallets)
