California’s DWC To Hold Meeting on Ways To Improve Workers’ Compensation System
The California Department of Workers’ Compensation has announced that it will hold a public meeting on December 6, 2022, to discuss ways to improve the current workers’ compensation system.
Qualified Medical Evaluators (QMEs) and Agreed Medical Evaluators (AMEs) are in a unique position to provide insights on this topic, so if you have any ideas or suggestions, attending may be a good idea.
Here’s a useful summary of the essential information you need to keep in mind about the in-person public hearing:
- Date: Tuesday, December 6, 2022
- Place: Elihu Harris State Office Building – Auditorium, 1515 Clay Street, Oakland, CA 94612
- Hour: 10:00 a.m.
Each speaker will have five minutes to deliver their remarks, so if you decide to attend, make sure to prepare a speech that fits that time frame.
According to the DWC, “all stakeholders” are invited, including lawyers, insurers, injured workers, and, of course, health care providers.
Why Attend
As you probably know, the workers’ comp system is far from perfect. From incorrect PPO reductions to a sometimes cumbersome SBR/IBR process, there’s plenty of room for improvement.
This is a good opportunity to bring these challenges into the open and discuss them with the decision-makers in charge of the workers’ compensation system.
While our blog focuses on medical-legal billing, you can share your thoughts on any topic related to workers’ comp. The official press release states that “All areas of the system can be addressed” in the meeting.
